The Participatory Development Program (PDP) is a five-year program (2003-2008) funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Insurance and Social Affairs, and executed by a Canadian Executing Agency comprised of : Foundation for International Training (FIT), Alternatives and Ka:nen Our Children Our Future.

The goal of the PDP is to support poverty reduction efforts and the realization of rights of marginalized groups, especially women, children and youth in Egypt. The program purpose is to identify and strengthen the capacity of promising Egyptian associations, foundations, federations and networks to effectively engage and represent their communities...

PDP manages three funding facilities:

• Child Protection Development Facility (CPDF)
• Gender Equality Development Facility (GEDF)
• Participatory Development Facility (PDF)

All three funding facilities will use a common development framework geared to work:

• Capacity Self Assessment
• Participatory Capacity Development Planning
• Delivery of Activities
• Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation of Progress

Through the capacity self assessment tool PDP facilities capacity self assessment and delivers capacity development in any of the following six functional areas:

• Governance
• Strategic Management
• Management and Human Resource Development
• Financial Resources
• Services Delivery
• External Relations
