The Child Protection Development Facility
The Child Protection Development Facility is a funding mechanism established by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The CPDF is one of three facilities managed through the Participatory Development Program.
CPDF provides capacity development and financial support for organizations and activities designed to benefit children by protecting and promoting the rights of children. The CPDF will particularly focus on organizations which promote the rights of children who need special protection measures. These include -among others- child laborers, children with disabilities, sexually exploited children, street-involved children, and children in conflict with the law or in institutional care as defined by CIDA's Action Plan on Child Protection. The CPDF will support organizations working in geographic and programming areas that support and strengthen CIDA's program in Egypt.
During the course of the project, the CPDF and the organization will work together to develop or strengthen technical skills in child protection and the use of rights based programming approaches; strengthen knowledge and skills to apply new rights-based approaches to project activities, including the meaningful participation of children; and build linkages and collaborative relationships with other organizations-including those in government, where appropriate-in order to more effectively represent their community. The CPDF will also assist Egyptian organizations strengthen their internal organizational systems and processes. CPDF financial and capacity development support will be delivered with the ultimate goal of helping organizations become more effective in their work through building both advanced program delivery skills and addressing internal organizational needs.
